Blyth Power Ashes 2009

What an awesome weekend.  It started off with a trip to Kettering and the Sawyers venue to get a quick spot of Anal Beard, Wob and Eastfield in  before the main punk/folk weekend.  We haven't had an anal beard fix since June so it was good to have that, and an impulse buying of a set of murderer pin badges seemed like a good idea at the time.  Then friday it was off jaunting up the country to derbyishire.  Hell on the roads and was tipping down when we arrived but with one of those new fangled pop up tent we lobbed it out of the car window and sat in the car until the rain stopped.  The weekend was filled with much mayhem.  Its probably just a good idea to show you loads of pictures and let you figure the rest out for yourself..  All the full sized versions of these pictures and many many more can be found at the following link

Easily one of the best things i've ever done with my life. I was nervous for the whole weekend, worried that maybe my music (thats what we're calling it for the sake of it) wouldn't be accepted or liked and I really needn't have worried. People stayed people listened people laughed and clapped and even though I stumbled through my set like a lobotomised bunny it seemed to go really well.  I still can't believe I played at Blyth Powers 25 anniversary lumb farm gig.  Russel from rachel pantechnicion liked my stuff as well as Paul stapleton from anal beard/pog also really liked my stuff which really boosted my confidence tenfold, annie and Joseph too seemed to enjoy what I did and it made all the stressing super worth while, because I mean I've been going to these muscians gigs for quite a few years now so for them to suddenly be telling me they like my stuff is actually quite surreal, and not sure I deserved it.
I did the longest set i've had so far and my 3rd string on my guitar was threatening to break any second, I just prayed it got me through the set, which it did...so *pats guitar* Thankyou.

I cant begin really to say what the highlights for me were, soo many bands I truely adore, from Verbal Warning, Pog, Wob, Eastfield, Cracktown, Paul Carter, Steven Cooper and the Charlies, the Re-entrants, Rachel Pantechnicion, Anal Beard, Blyth Power (obviously) and some new ones I hadn't come across before.  Mingling with people and having a laugh.  Otters abound.  Got a full set of Paul Stapletons pictures and the graphic novels we were missing, which was a real treat, A wob album, blyths new album and t-shirt, pogs new album, paul carters album and a project adorno cd (cheers Russel I promise when mines all done you can have a copy) So our car on leaving the venue was considerably heavier than on arrival.

I still feel a bit jetlagged though, The whole atmosphere was excellent and I can't wait for next year.  I'll be much better I promise.
